CALL 1-888-LOCKUUP

The Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers, Inc. is small-volunteer, citizen based organization dedicated to providing citizens with an anonymous, non-threatening method to report information concerning criminal activity.  The Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers, Inc., previously known as Peninsula Crime Line, Inc., was formed by a team of business leaders and law enforcement officials in 1982 and has been in successful, continuous operation since that time.  This program is essentially a partnership between citizens, law enforcement and the media.   That person reporting information, being anonymous, does not have to testify in court or have their identify known.  When that information results in an arrest, recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs, that person may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.

The Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers, Inc., classified by the I.R.S. as a 501 (c) 3 organization, is totally supported through tax deductible donations from large and small business, organizations, and citizens.  This Crime Stoppers organization does not receive any donations from local, state or federal governments.

The Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers, Inc. originally encompassed Newport News and Hampton but expanded to include the cities of Poquoson and Williamsburg and the counties of James City, York and Gloucester.  Each participating law enforcement organization provides a uniformed officer, called a Crime Stoppers Coordinator, to liaison with their department and the Crime Stoppers’ organization.  The coordinator reports monthly on the tips received that resulted in an arrest.  The Crime Stoppers organization has a documented schedule to determine the cash value of a reward depending on the number of charges, the type of crime and other factors.  The rewards are paid in cash and there is no identifying documentation to further ensure the anonymity of the caller.

The Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers can provide a speaker for your event or meeting to discuss the Crime Stoppers’ program, how it works, and how it impacts the community. To request a speaker, please contact us at vapeninsulacs@gmail.com.
